LoughTec, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading IT infrastructure specialists, has been appointed as sole supplier on a new framework agreement with HEAnet for the next four years.
HEAnet is Ireland’s national education and research network, who deliver shared IT services and high-speed internet connectivity to all levels of the Irish education sector.
Under the new agreement, LoughTec, along with their partners Ericom, will have the opportunity to provide their remote working and secure access solution to all third-level education institutions in Ireland until September 2024. This agreement continues the longstanding partnership between LoughTec and Ericom, since it began in 2006.
Irish universities, colleges and their users can now enjoy seamless, secure access to full desktops, hosted Windows applications and web applications in a single browser-tab portal, from any device, anywhere in the world.
Cathal Green, CTO at LoughTec, said, “COVID-19 has changed how we work and learn. All industries are having to adapt to a new norm, and the education sector is no different. Therefore, we are excited to continue our work in the Irish education sector with HEAnet. Our remote working solution gives students and staff the flexibility to work remotely anywhere, just like they would if they were on campus. Flexibility and secure access are now more important than ever, and our remote working solution provides just that.”
Institutions using LoughTec’s Ericom Connect® solution do not need any particular software, plugins or add-ons installed on their systems, meaning users can log in and work straight away, without the need for any external help from IT support teams.
The system also gives IT support teams the flexibility to scale and increase or decrease user numbers quickly, adapting to changing environments by purchasing licenses as and when they need them. New users can be up and running from home in as little as one hour, with no training required.
